MyCasa Research

MyCasa Research publishes long-form, data-led reports on the foreign communities, housing markets and cost of living of the Spanish Mediterranean coast — Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and the Balearic Islands. Every figure is traced to a primary source (INE, the Colegio de Registradores, the Consejo General del Notariado, the Agencia Tributaria, Eurostat and equivalent official releases) and cited with a direct URL. We do not estimate or fabricate figures: where a number cannot be verified from a primary source, we say so rather than guess.

Each report is written to be quoted: a specific number, a specific place, a traceable source — ready to cite or excerpt in your own coverage. If you use one of our findings, we'd appreciate a link back to the report.

  • The British in Spain 2026: A municipal atlas of the UK diaspora after five years of Brexit

    Every January, British newspapers publish a version of the same story: how many Britons are left in Spain, and did Brexit drive them out. The story is usually built on one number, and the number is usually wrong — not because the source is bad, but because there are at least three legitimate answers and they differ by more than 100,000 people.

  • The 20 most international municipalities on Spain's Mediterranean coast

    We ranked every municipality on Spain's Mediterranean arc — from Girona down to Málaga, plus the Balearic Islands — by the share of registered residents holding a foreign nationality, using the INE Censo Anual de Población with a reference date of 1 January 2025. To avoid the statistical noise that afflicts very small villages, we applied a floor of 5,000 inhabitants. The result is a ranking in which the top of the table is almost entirely a Costa Blanca phenomenon: Alicante province supplies twelve of the top twenty, with secondary clusters in western Málaga, the Almería Levante, the Costa Brava and Mallorca.
